Closed House Conditions

Here are The EPA's requirements for "closed house" conditions during a radon test. These requirements must be met for both the 12 hours prior to and also during the 48-hour test, otherwise the test will be voided.

Home-In-Spection

Requirements

• The windows of the home must stay CLOSED.
• Perimeter doors (i.e.: front, back and basement door) can be opened for normal use BUT may not be left open
• The Furnace fan must be set to the "Auto" position.
• Any normally used exhaust fan (such as bathroom fan or cooking fan) may be used but MAY NOT BE LEFT ON for lengthy amounts of time.
